Smooth wire fencing is great for horses. Smooth wire is much more animal friendly than barbed wire and is much less likely to cause harm to animals when they brush against the fence. Smooth wire is easily maintained and offers comparable strength to barbed wire without the dangers of the sharp barbs. Often times clients will have us run a line of barbed wire on top and then run smooth wire for the bottom three or four lines. Intermixing the wires in this way offers a reminder to the livestock that the fence is tough while also allowing smaller animals such as dogs and rabbits to run through the fence without injury.
